I avoided running my whole life
As a kid, I was genuinely afraid of running. The thought of it made me anxious. In high school, I became a goalkeeper — mostly so I wouldn’t have to run the field.
Even in my late 30s, running 1.5 km felt like my absolute hard limit. Anything beyond that? Impossible. I had accepted that I just wasn’t built for running. Some people run, I thought. I’m not one of them.
Turning 40 changed everything
I wasn’t happy with my health. For my 40th birthday, I made two decisions: stop drinking and run a half marathon. It felt like a joke.
Then 2 km became 5. Then 6. Then 7. The first time I ran 10 km, I was genuinely shocked. Consistency had done what willpower couldn’t. I even signed up for a Toronto marathon.

Then I moved to the suburbs
My familiar routes? Gone. Running partners? Gone. The consistency I’d worked so hard to build? Completely crashed.
I tried running alone. Some days it worked. Most days, I’d find an excuse. Too cold. Too tired. Too busy. The motivation that came so easily before just... disappeared. Not even Toronto’s best routes could fix it.
💡 That’s when I realized: running alone is fine — until it isn’t. Some days, the only thing that gets you out the door is knowing someone else is waiting.
A LinkedIn post that sparked something
I posted a thought — more question than idea:
“Why is it so hard to find someone to do stuff with? Not a big social commitment. Just someone to join you for a morning run. No pressure, no endless chatting — just match, show up, go.”
The response surprised me. Messages from people who moved cities, changed schedules, or felt intimidated by running clubs. The problem wasn’t motivation — it was friction. People wanted a simpler way to find running partners.
Ideas need builders
An idea without execution is just a thought. That’s when I knew I needed a partner who could turn this vision into reality.

Still a rookie runner. In 2025, I had to abandon a marathon due to a hip injury. That’s who Crewa is for — regular people building consistency, not pros.
Where passion meets purpose
Every great product needs someone who can see both the problem and the solution. That’s where Keyvan came in.
Hey, I’m Keyvan
Co-founder & CTO
After moving to Toronto, I watched my own outdoor routines shift. As a technologist with years of experience, I saw exactly how to build what we both wished existed.
Crewa was born
Running clubs are great, but they’re not for everyone. Fixed schedules, big groups, social pressure — it works for some, but not for many of us.
Crewa is different. Find someone nearby at your pace, same time, same area. No group chats. No endless coordination. No pressure to perform. Whether you’re just getting started or training through a Toronto winter, Crewa makes it easier to stay consistent.
Just two people who want to show up and run together.
Match. Show up. Run. 🏃
What we believe
These aren’t just words on a wall. They’re the principles that guide every feature we build and every decision we make.
Accountability is the point. Meeting strangers needs trust. No social clutter — just find a partner and run.
Live in Toronto
We launched here first because this is where the story began. The trails, the neighborhoods, the community — this is home.
The vision is bigger — helping people find activity partners for anything, anywhere. Cycling, hiking, tennis, you name it.
But for now? We’re focused on runners who just want someone to show up with. That’s where it starts. That’s where we’ll prove it works. Check out our Toronto running guide to get started.
